our time spent in big d, really mesquite home of the "skeeters" was well, kinda boring. a lot of time entertaining ourselves in the hotel while watching limited t.v. and drawing on every surface imaginable, encompassed our mainstay of activities. imagine this picture drawn on deposit slips, note pads, toilet paper, and accidentally, bed sheets 452 times.
yes, i'm proud my little budding artist is devoted if not, consciously trying to hone her craft.
we did have the "sangria" play date topped with uncle julio's mucho deliciouso mexican food (whatever on the spelling of damn good food. i don't know me no spanish). both events were totally worth the drive but not too kind to my waistline.
after deciding we would rather sleep in our beds saturday night so not to be late for viewing the lame-o oscars on sunday, we drove back to okc through what i thought for sure was armageddon. as i am a minor/major sinner, i thought for sure i missed the memo and had been skipped over, left to rot on this dusty earth. if you live in the midwest, then you know what i'm talking about. DUST-STORM 2007! with white knuckles clenched to my steering wheel while driving in 60 mile an hour murky, sandy winds with children screaming, "i want more scooby doo! where's my froggy? where's bunny? i want candy! where's daddy! why am i here and what is the meaning of this life without chocolate milk?" seemly made mommy a tad bit crabby.
ready for a stiff drink upon arrival, another surprise was waiting for us, our garage door careened off it's tracks and almost brutally abused my car. luckily, my hero, equipped with a cigarette, a cocktail and a hammer, worked out the problem.
now back to your regularly scheduled programming:
overheard while trying to finish this painfully sad post.
"dear daria,
i need to cleaning up my room so, i can have a party in my room. no jackson. no boys. only, girls, how fun!
love, celia"
what a relief, she's not thinking of boys...yet.
"dear daria,
sissy needs to cleaning up her room too for babies to come and stay here in her room.
love, celia"
what? does she know something i don't?
and finally,
this poor tub o' lard is going to be incredibly old tomorrow. she is mourning her youth and naps.
If you are looking for kids crafts you'll find plenty on the web. There are a huge a variety of resources out there with activities for children or even just free coloring books to print out and learn from.

glad you made it back in somewhat human form. impressed you took a car ride at all with two kids, let alone a 3 1/2 hour tour.

Sweetie,
What a beautiful baby you were and are - and your babies are beautiful just like you. I think you are so very young yet - My little Texan, I remember how cold it turned the day you were born. The weather is always guaranteed to change on your birthday, but this year it may actually turn into a beautiful day. I am sooooo glad you got back from Texas safe and sound - No one knows sandstorms unless they did time in Lubbock. I can understand how you would think the wind howling and whipping, and the dirt turning the sky black was the end of the world. You, of course, with your artist's eye saw the sand sparkle like glitter on the cars - I hope you never lose your ability to see beauty in the heart of darkness.
As for Miss Celia, she may also see things we don't see. Maybe she has an inside connection.
As for your birthday - I see it as a birthday for myself as well - I only really started to live completely when you were born. You were the best thing to happen to me in my life.
Much love, Yo Mama

Happy Birthday!! :)
I appreciate how you looked death in the face, but kept driving... all the while the youngins in the back had no idea what peril lay ahead. I wish I had an ounce of that trust and naivete again. It's so much easier being a kid!
Glad you made it back safe!

Happy Birthday! Have yourself a big pitcher of something to celebrate! Calories consumed on your birthday (or on vacation) don't count.

Hidden in all that was a birthday announcement!? HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!!
Armeggedon at 60 isn't half bad, really. At least you didn't slow down for it. That would have been a sin!!
I'd send you chocolate vodka if only I could!
Have a great one!
