February Photo a Day Challenge: Day Three - Hands
My Grandfather passed down his obsession with hands on to me.
"Never trust a man with smooth hands. He has nothing going on for him."
"Never trust a person with short thumbs. They can be mean."
"You have a long life-line with much happenings throughout out your life. Some good, some bad. You will always come out on top."
"Your first born son will die."
How did he know so much about me based on the grooves etched into a fleshy cellular organ?
I have to admit, I do grab my friends hands, pull out ink pens to map out success and distress in a tattoo-like design. I cringe when I see X's in strange ominous patterns.
Unlike my Grandfather, I don't share any negative knowings. Nothing good comes from these thoughts.
Well now I'm sitting here staring at my palms and wondering what they should be telling me.

I stare at mine while rocking out my 3 miles to Florence & The Machine each morning--specifically "Heartlines." Wondering what they might mean but knowing it's probably best I not know.

I'm totally on board with the guys with smooth hands thing. Completely true.
I've never heard the short thumbs thing, but I'm pretty sure that'll be all I'm thinking of when I see people's thumbs from now on. Which, come to think of it, isn't all that often. Except now that I've said that, I'll start subconsciously noticing everyone's thumbs against my wil. *sigh*
