A friend of mine asked me to help her out with camp shirts for her kids this week. As always I am totally up to the challenge even if I'm ill equipped with the software to do so.
I designed the K's in WORD! For the love of GOD! I will be so glad to get my copy of Illustrater next week.... and printed the text on transfer paper. Word to the wise, remember to reverse your image if the directions call you to do so (this means actually READ the directions on the carton of paper) or you'll will get this.
A reversed "K" on your pillow case.
All in all, I think they turned out okay. I especially like the payment of cash and Vodka!
WILL WORK FOR VODKA!
Man, my friend knows how to treat me right.
This idea transcended itself into the craft of the week for the girls:
Making personalized t-shirts for the summer.
Go to *shudder* Walmart and get a cheap $2.97 t-shirt, scour the internet and download the picture (inser Monster High obsession into the equation) in Word, Illustrator, Paint or Photoshop. Add text to personalize it even more if you are into getting crazy.
PAY ATTENTION! to the directions and iron the decal on your kids shirt and VIOLA! You now have a shirt they are happy to wear and you won't freak out when they drop spaghetti sauce or globs of paint on it.
If you are lucky enough, the over-exposure to their fanatisicm will die out quicker than the actual shirt and decal.
My bliss moment of the week:
They can be so sweet and loving with each other.

Your daughters are so amazingly beautiful. And you're creative! Oh my gosh! I'm in awe. I don't have a creative bone in my body, I'm afraid. But I'm a hella audience. :-)

Those are great shirts! If you don't want to hit Walmart for cheap t-shirts, Michael's often has them for $4 or less...and in a variety of colors. Of course, a trip to Michael's can take a looooong time with my 5 year old, so it may not be worth the time investment.

I totally learned the hardway on the reverse thing...one setting was for transfers and it reveresed automatically and then I smartly reveresed it...duh!
Those shirts look great! Especially on those pretty kids of yours :)
TGIF!

I haven't decided yet if I should thank you or curse you. After reading this post the other night, I stayed up until 2:00 a.m. designing T-shirts, yesterday I bought all the supplies, and just a few minutes ago finished the sixth one. Our three grands are coming from AZ and their three cousins are coming from MO. As a surprise I made them T-Shirts that just say "Cousins", each in a different color font (each kid's favorite color), and they all have the same photo of the six of them below that single word. They look great and I know the kids will love them, but it did take me a lot of time.
I have used Word 2003 since it came out, but only when I got a new computer recently did I switch to 2010. The menus are ridiculously complex and often hidden. Finally locating WordArt was quite a treat, for example. Then there was the need to rotate to a mirror image. After finding the menu for it, I was able to easily rotate the photo to a mirror image but could never get my text box to rotate. Went to several Help sites and followed the directions but could not get it to work. As a workaround I saved each .doc as a .pdf then opened it in PSE where rotating the image was a simple click. Count me as one who is incredibly impressed that you were able to create that design in Word...WOW! I bow to your vast Word skills. Oh well, I've always learned software by trial and error, just pokin' around, so this was a great real-life tutorial.
Seriously though, I do really want to thank you because our grands get here Tuesday night and we'll see their cousins on Friday. Nearly out of time, I was still lacking a cool idea and always surprise them all with a special gift/craft whenever they are together...THANKS!
