JCPenney is my new best friend
If you have been following me for any amount of time, you know I am pregnant with my third little burrito. A SURPRISE burrito supreme with hot sauce that is (gee, maybe I should go out and eat one these, RIGHT NOW!) Pregnant or not, my everyday "uniform" is very simple and straight forward: a white t-shirt and black pants.
Okay, so maybe you can't see the blank pants but trust me, they are there. Everyday of my life. Well, sometimes I change it up with a colored shirt but otherwise: I cling to this simple yet boring way of dressing. Why? Because it's tres facile.
BlogHer along with JCPenney approached me to shop with the fabulous Susan from Beauty Hacks and Friday Playdate in order to spring me from my fashion conundrum. A change I welcomed with open arms because really, who doesn't want free clothes? UM... I DO, I DO!!!
The excitement of the trip was fueled with the knowledge that Susan would help me find the right outfits for my burgeoning frame. Have I mentioned I love Susan? If not, I LOVE SUSAN!
Anyway, where were we. Oh, yes! We started off our shopping extravaganza in the maternity section. I have to admit, the selection in OKC is slim to nil in offerings for the "woman with child sector." I did find a few maternity shirts, one being a beautiful shade of plum. According to Susan, jewel-tones are totally "hot" this Fall and well, who doesn't wanna be a "hot" pregnant fashionista?
We also tried on a sweater combo for starters.
(please ignore the goofy head tilt and funky smile. I'm not quite sure what came over me.)
Good lord! Am I about to birth this child in the dressing room?
Poor Susan, she worked hard for her money on this adventure. It is hard work finding clothes for someone who swallowed 10 watermelons before their shopping expedition. I ended up not purchasing this chunky cardigan sweater because, well, I ran out of money. Give me $300.00 and I will bleed ever cent from it.
After quickly scavenging through the maternity section, we decided to move on to the Women's section for alternative choices. My thought was, I need clothing for during and after pregnancy and by the time the Fall/Winter season is over with, HOPEFULLY!! I'll be closer to status quo. I know, I know, who am I kidding....
We immediately bee-lined ourselves towards a wonderful gray plaid and black trench coat that I absolutely fell in love with while at the same time losing my purse in the melee. Don't worry, it was found where I haphazardly left it. Hanging on a rack for all to steal (Have I mentioned I don't really care for pregnancy and all of the wonderful symptoms that come with it? Like memory loss?).
I digress.
Here is the fabulous coat:
Again, let us not discuss the fabulous Zoolander pose because I know, you are so jealous of my mad posing skillz. Also, doesn't my hair look fantastic in this shot? Yes? Please say something nice to the pregnant chick or she might cry.
I can't wait until the Fall leaves start falling, coupled with the cool, crisp air of Autumn. I'm going to feel so wonderful wearing this coat when stylishly dropping my kids off at school. I'll let you know which ultra-rich mother asks where I purchased this snazzy coat. I'm giddy with anticipation.
We also tried on a few cardigans to slip on when running out the door for carpool. Not that I would EVER run out the door for carpool. I'm simply never late. HaHaHa! I cracked myself up on that statement. Anyone who has known me for the past four years would know, I'll be late to my own funeral. It's a sad, little chronic disease I have.
A purple sweater. **Note to dressing room planners, florescent lights are NOT a girl's best friend.**
a cranberry red cable knit hoodie,
and my favorite sweater of them all. An awesome pumpkin colored swing sweater that can be worn with a broach:
Mama was in need of a new pair of shoes to go with my new clothes but was sadly notified, size 10 1/2 or 11's need not apply in the store. Only on the Internet. I will show you the pair of shoes I really, really, REALLY wanted but was disappointed to find they weren't available to my jabba the hut feet.
Onward we marched into the handbag section where we immediately found the perfect bag that would double as a fashionable purse as well as a diaper bag. Actually, it was a burgundy, patent-leather computer bag but if you know me, I need something that is big enough to hold a flashlight, tire gage, 500 receipts and make-up bag while toting around baby accoutrements.
yep, the mag-light fits. The bag is a match made in heaven.
We also picked up a few scarves, a hat and a numerous amount of shiny accessories. All of which have been sadly lacking from my closet as of late.
The day came to an end after blowing through the money like there was no tomorrow. I left happy and satisfied that I have new clothes for this LAST pregnancy as well as feeling a little more fashionable than I started.
Thank you JC Penney's, BlogHer and Susan for the wonderful opportunity to feel like a princess for a day.
I LOVE the cable and pumpkin sweaters! You look fantastic. Every hair day that you have is a good one, I swear. I would freaking kill to be able to lose my mop of frizz and have a smooth bob.

You look fabulous!! And I think the pumpkin sweater is my favorite. (And the coat! Bring on the snarky carpool moms!) Great bag too. I'm going to have to check out JC Penney. It's at the other end of the mall from Target and I'm just.so.lazy.

That jacket is fantastic. And, I'm starting a foundation for big footed girls like us. NOT FAIR AT ALL. I'll keep you in mind when I'm big shoe shopping. In case I find TWO of a fantastic bargain (like the size 11 Steve Madden Red Shiny Flats I just got for $15!!!)

I got that orange sweater in black. It's way comfy. Other than that I don't think we got any of the same thing.
